The centerpiece of The Santa Maria, a Luxury Collection Hotel & Golf Resort is a lush, verdant championship golf course designed by the legendary Jack Nicklaus. Meticulously groomed to perfection, this 18-hole, par-72 golf course features rippling fairways, beautiful greens and sculpted bunkers that offer a challenge for scratch handicappers and novice golfers alike. The layout measures 7,153 yards from the back tees and offers four tee box locations in order to accommodate players of all ages and skill levels.
The course has been designed to always provide the player with a safe route to the green, with well-placed bunkering to reward proper ball placement and shot execution. A premium is placed on the short game, especially around the well-contoured greens that allow for some interesting pin placements. In terms of strategic design, playability, maintenance and construction techniques, the course is a benchmark against which all future Panama City golf courses will be measured.
The Santa Maria Golf Course is managed by Troon of Scottsdale, Arizona. It is currently the world’s largest and most prestigious golf course management company with more than 270 golf courses in its portfolio. Additionally, Nicklaus Design is recognized as the industry leader worldwide for their golf course design and construction.
